They are proprietors, presidents, chief executive officers, directors, general managers, partners, department heads and the self-employed who share a common interest in building better business relationships in the region.</p> <p>Although active for several years as a business group the Canadian Business Council Abu Dhabi was officially registered with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce on March 19<sup>th</sup>, 2005.  The ceremony was attended by H.E. David Hutton, the Canadian Ambassador, and the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, H.E. Mohammed Omar Abdulla.  </p> <p>Each year CBC-Abu Dhabi produces and publishes a membership directory that is available to members and those interested in contacting our members. </p> <p>CBC-Abu Dhabi’s activities are organized to maximize member networking activities.  Luncheon or dinner events with high profile speakers and social events such as the annual charity gala and VIP receptions are some of the activities organized. CBC also hosts visiting trade missions and participates at local trade fairs and events.</p> <p>The organization has a close working relationship with the local and Canadian governments and organizations such as Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Canadian Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce. </p><br><b>Chairman's Message</b><br><p>Last night, the Canadian Business Council gathered to elect its new Board for 2009-2010. As a sign of the vitality of our organization, we brought in five new members including the undersigned to join three existing Board members who have accepted to continue to serve our Organization and the interests of the Canadian Business Community and Canadians at large. We hope to live up to your expectations and continue to grow the CBC Abu Dhabi and render it more relevant to our operations.</p> <p>As your new Chairman, I feel much honored by the trust you have put in me and I look forward to working with our new Board and every one of you to make this a successful year. We have an enthusiastic group which are looking forward to developing each of their portfolios, be it organizing new and exciting events, business links between Canadian and local businesses, increasing our membership or maintaining and improving the running of our Business Council. Everyone is coming in with their energy and ideas to do the best possible job possible in 2009-2010.</p> <p>I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Board and more particularly our retiring Chairman, Mr. Jack Matar, for their energy and dedication during the past year. They have done a great job and they will be a tough act to follow.</p> <p>I wish also to welcome our new Canadian Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Kenneth Lewis, who has recently moved to the U.A.E. to assume his new responsibilities. The Canadian Embassy has always been a great supporter of the Canadian Business Council and we look forward to continuing this good relationship developed over the past several years. </p> <p>Finally, I wish you all great success in 2009-2010. The past year has been a challenge for all our operations.
